     Help I'm New!

    Hi everyone,
This is my first post though I have been lurking in the
background for over a month!

I am very ready to get my MGB process going but I am unsure where to
start. I have read the manual and done tons of research...

    Where do I begin?

Any info would be a help.
    Thanks
    Steph

Hi Steph -

I am a newbie too. (about a month into it)

This is what you need to do:

1) Fill out the patient application and send it into CLOS (online) http://clos.net/patinfo.htm

2) Print the Manual (136 pages - it takes a while)
http://clos.net/get_patient_manual.htm

3) Divide the manual into sections otherwise it is overwhelming
         Service Marks (pp 9-23)
What Do I have to do pre-op? (pp 24-32)
         Patient Education (pp 33-67)
         Pre-op Meds/Instructions & Discharge Meds/Instructions (pp 68-
104)
         Letter to PCP (pp 105-106)
Consent Agreements (the remainder of manual)

4) Start reading the manual and within the next few days or so
you will get an email from all three CLOS locations (you pick which one you want to go to) and schedule a day you want to have the surgery.

Give yourself enough time out to get a Psych evaluation and a PCP check up.

5) Join the "Yahoo" mailing list.  Read and Listen to others...  http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Mini-Gastric-Bypass/

As you read these posts be on the lookout for people who are Post-
Op and send them individual emails asking if they would be one of
your 10 contacts. You will need to keep in contact with these 10
people as they will act as "mentors" for you.

6) Then start working on completing the requirements for the packet.

Thant's pretty much it - in a nut shell.

Hope this helps.  :o)   Let me know if you have any other questions.

Also, be sure to check out the new CLOS discussion/photo site
